Introduction

The SMS Action feature allows your AI Agent to send text messages during or after phone calls. This guide covers everything you need to know about configuring and using SMS functionality effectively.

Your account must have an active phone number to use SMS Actions - all messages will be sent from this number.

Quick Start

  1. Go to Agent’s actions section
  2. Click “Add action”
  3. Select “Send SMS”
  4. Configure recipient and message settings
  5. Save your configuration

Setting Up Recipients

You can send SMS to either:

  • Caller’s/Contact’s Number: Automatically uses the caller’s phone number (Phone Calls only)
  • Custom Number: Manually specified phone number

Phone Number Format

All numbers must use E.164 format:

+(country code)(phone number)
Example: +12512500508
  • Plus sign (+) is required
  • US/Canada country code is 1
  • Currently supports USA/Canada numbers only

Character Limits

  • 160 characters per SMS segment
  • Longer messages split automatically
  • Messages sent in sequence

Using Variables

  1. Access variables menu with ”/” (Slash Command)
  2. Select desired variable
  3. Test variable rendering before deployment
